Anzac as a Trade Name.

This little article appeared in The Times on 8th July 1916.

The use of the word Anzac was recognised and protected by the Australian Government before its use was over exploited.


"“ANZAC” AS A TRADE NAME

The Board of Trade issues the following:-

The Australian Government have drawn attention to certain instances of the employment in the country, for trading purposes, of the word “Anzac.”

In view of the associations attached to this name, its use in connexion with trade and industry has been entirely prohibited in the Commonwealth of Australia and the Board of Trade trusts that the circumstances traders and the public in the United Kingdom will respect Australian wishes by abstaining from the use of the word for such purposes. "
