He was form Lake Lonsdale, Victoria and the son of Mr. A Gehan Post Office, Stawell, Victoria.
He was 5’ 6” tall, weighed 154 lbs and had grey eyes and dark hair.
4th May 1915 he enlisted at Stawell, Victoria aged 19 years and 8 months. His job at enlistment is recorded as a labourer.
(His younger brother Walter Clarence Gehan enlisted 4 days after).
28th May 1915 he was allocated to the 14th Battalion reinforcements.
22nd June 1915 he reallocated to the 7th Reinforcements 8th Battalion.
1st October 1915 he was temporarily transferred to Divisional Headquarters at Lemnos.
23rd November he joined the 8th Battalion at ANZAC.
7th January 1916 he disembarked at Alexandria.
26th March 1916 he left Egypt for France.
31st March 1916 he disembarked at Marseilles.
18th August 1916 He was killed in action aged 20.
He is buried in Pozieres British Cemetery Ovillers-La-Boisselle

His brother Walter Clarence Gehan, survived the war and returned to Australia on 23rd March 1919.
